Scambusters Alert: As you enjoy your ownership, it’s important to stay vigilant to keep yourself safe from potential scammers.

Recently, some owners have reported receiving a phone call from a company claiming to be Wyndham. The owner is told they can exit their ownership if they pay an upfront fee. If you receive a call like this, please exercise extreme caution and do not pay anything upfront. Remember, never provide your personal ownership or financial information without fully verifying who you are dealing with.

Do you know how to identify a potential timeshare exit scam? Here are some tips to help you spot fraudulent activity:

  • Stay cautious. You may be told you can easily exit your timeshare for a fee. While this offer may sound enticing, typically nothing happens after the fee is paid to the third party. Remember, WorldMark by Wyndham will never ask you to pay anything upfront for assistance exiting your ownership.
  • Ask questions. Is the person calling you claiming to be affiliated with WorldMark by Wyndham? Ask the caller for specific information such as their name, their company name, location, and their company number so you can verify it. If you are contacted and your caller ID or the email address from the sender does not indicate WorldMark by Wyndham, be extra careful.
  • Do your homework. If someone contacts you with an offer about your timeshare, be sure to do your research. There are many online resources — including your owner website — available to help you research companies before you agree to rent, sell, or transfer your timeshare. When in doubt, reach out directly to your WorldMark by Wyndham team.

Most importantly, remember that your club is here for you. If you are ever unsure or have any concerns about whether or not you are talking to someone from your club, call your WorldMark by Wyndham team at 800-457-0103 and they can assist you with whatever you need.

If you think you may have fallen victim to a scam, or have received a phone call that could be a scam, contact the Scambusters team at 866-515-6989.
